What's the difference between these 4 trees?

Since I've had a bit of a frustration working out the details separating these trees in my mind, I figure it'd be fun to write a blog about their differences and similarities!

Just what's the difference between Elm, Alder, Hazel, and Birch?

If I were a tree, I would be an Alnus. It's like the Jessica Alba of all trees. Look at that bodacious, curvaceous, delicious bark!

I remember having to study/memorize trees for this academic science team I was on. I really loved the elm leaves because they seem so distinctive, yet it's amazing how when you spend time to look at plants in detail, you notice the differences within a species or between families. What is this for? If it was for a midterm, I hope you did well!
