DocX converter to Office 97-2003
Tay's Tip of the Day: Zamzar.com will convert Office 2007 file formats (.docx, .pptx, .xlsx) into Office 97-2003 formats. Ever want to download a YouTube video before it get's taken down by Google? Zamzar can also convert YouTube video URLs into video files you can download and save on your computer.
If you happen to be an OpenOffice user seeking interoperability with Office 2007 file formats, I recommend Novell's distribution which includes a plug-in that works with Office 2007's Open-XML (docx).
A team at Novell and a team at Sun are making most of the contributions you see in OpenOffice today. By introducing new standards that are not backwards-compatible, Microsoft is pushing many Office 97-2007 users to upgrade to Office 2007 and OpenOffice users to consider leaving their free (both gratis and libre) open-source office suite. It's a power play they expect will generate a lot of money, and (hopefully) no lawsuits.
Usually, I try to avoid uber-short posts with links to other websites but I think this worthwhile. Enjoy!
Tay, you're full of useful information. This is very cool.
