San Diego!

So I took my first trip to San Diego about three weeks ago. I'm originally from Miami and had never been down there even though I'd been living in California since 2003. It was a great trip! The flight only takes about an hour or hour and a half. Being used to flights back to Miami, this short trip was a very welcomed change. We actually went to meet my mom who I hadn't seen in almost a year. The only "bad" part was that the trip was the last week before finals began lol. Anyway, I wanted to share some pictures. Most of these are my girlfriend's pictures since my camera broke the first day we were out there.

We stayed across the street from the convention center in the Gaslamp District at the Omni Hotel. It was right next to Petco Park where the Padres play. There were lots of great restaurants and shops along 5th Avenue. Though we didn't get to go to the beach, La Jolla and many other great ones are near by (you can even visit the Scripps Institution of Oceanography). The Coronado Bridge (SR 75) was just south of us. It wasn't a great looking bridge, considering we live so close to such aesthetically pleasing ones (Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge), but I'm sure it's cool to drive along. Public Transportation and walking were our only means of getting around. The MTS (Metropolitan Transit System) was great. They have a $5 all day pass that allows use of all buses and the cool rail ("trolley") network they have.
I wished we'd have had more time to explore the city and surrounding areas but that's what Southwest is for. Out tickets were about $50 each way, so it was great! I'd definitely recommend trying to visit San Diego at least once.

Great - sounds like you had a great vacation. Shame you didn't make it to the beaches - they're great around there! I'll be writing about your experience on my site.
