Random Facts from OChem
Now that the second round of midterms is upon is, I think we all feel a bit like hermits, trapped in our apartments or the library with our study materials. I remember after the first round of midterms, I literally squinted against the sunlight, thinking, "Eek! Sunlight! It burns!!!"
I really wish I could take a break this Friday for Halloween, but I really can't afford to slack off from studying. Anyways, while studying for Chem 3B, I came across some interesting facts that might amuse you guys:
(1) Elephants and certain species of moths release the same pheromones
--- I wonder if moths hang around elephants...
(2) Chocolate contains the compound "anandamide," which binds to the same receptor in your brain as the active ingredient in marijuana --> "addicted to chocolate"
This mechanism also allows your body to suppress the feeling of pain.
--- maybe that's why people eat a bunch of chocolate when they're depressed...
Anyways, I should get back to studying more o chem...I also just ate a whole bag of peanut M&Ms. I think I'm addicted to chocolate, but at least now I can blame it on science.

This, along with five grams of protein/fiber per serving, is good motivation for me to continue eating my 85% Bear Market chocolate.
