Productive Boredom

Sounds like an oxymoron, right? Yesterday, my sister told me about this website www.freerice.com. You basically get tested on vocabulary and for every one you get right, ten grains of rice are donated to the UN World Food Program to end hunger.

I was supposed to be studying yesterday, but I spent about an hour or so playing on this website, instead. On the bright side, because of my boredom, over 3000 grains of rice are going to be donated to help end hunger! Plus, I learned a bunch of cool new words! My new favorite word is footle, which means 'to waste time.' "I footled so much today." "Stop footling!" I just think it's a hilarious word.

So next time you're bored, go on this website, learn some new vocab, and help end hunger! Tip: if the word looks weird, it's most likely an animal. Gerenuk=gazelle. Who knew? I certainly didn't.

Wow! I just found out that you can select between a variety of subjects, so not just vocab! They have art, geography, and even language learning!! How awesome is that? I think I'll go try out the Italian one now. I want to go to Italy someday.
