Energy and Resources 98/198 – Energy DeCal (2 Units)

Previously known as Energy 101, the Energy DeCal course will explore the social, environmental and economic consequences of our carbon-based economy. We depend on energy to fuel our cars and airplanes, grow and transport our food, light our cities, warm our homes, cook our food, and power our machinery, appliances, and electronics. As we continue to deplete our energy sources (and pollute our air and water in the process), the challenge to satisfy our need for energy continues to mount.

This class features hands-on projects like lighting/energy audits, interesting guest speakers that range from different energy topics like hydrogen fuel, climate footprint calculators, solar/wind power, biofuels, and how energy is tied into our society. The class also features small field trips seeing a million dollar Hydrogen car, solar panel tour, and the nation's first green demonstration dorm room!

First day of class is Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008 from 5-6:30PM in 104 Barrows.
