ReUSE is a student-run program through Campus Recycling and Refuse Services that implements and maintains a series of services and events for the UC Berkeley community to foster the spirit of reuse- that is, keeping old items from the waste stream and reducing the need for new ones. Visit http://reuse.berkeley.edu for more information.
ReUSE Volunteer Information:
ReUSE is looking for volunteers for the 2009-2010 school year. ReUSE volunteers work within the ReUSE program by "owning" a ReUSE station- these are areas on campus, generally small bookcases or empty phone booths, where students may drop off unwanted, reusable items, and pick up free items that have been circulating in the university- these typically include binders, envelops, file folders, paper clips, and other office supplies.
ReUSE also has several projects throughout the school year- Binder/Reader Giveaway and the Second Chance Clothing Sale, and can always use an extra pair of hands.
Volunteer positions are of course, unpaid, but we will be having monthly meetings with free food, good people, and interesting ideas.
Please email Sarah Cowan at sloucowan@berkeley.edu for more information. If interested in volunteering with ReUSE, please send a brief (1-2 paragraph) introduction of yourself and your interest in the program. The first monthly meeting of ReUSE volunteers will be the week of September 21-25. If you already know your availability for these days, please send that along too.
