1. UC BERKELEY EXTENSION UC BERKELEY INFO SESSION FOR MEDICAL & HEALTH PREPARATION DATE: 10/21/2009

2. ONLINE DAT/MCAT PREP COURSE OFFERED BY UMKC
The University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry and CE Webinar are offering a synchronous (live) online DAT / MCAT Preparatory Course. This course is unique in that it is faculty developed and faculty taught specifically to sharpen test-taking skills and review the subject areas tested on the MCAT and DAT. 3. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE HEP B PROJECT

The Hep B Project is a collaboration among students, free clinics, and the Alameda County Public Health Department to educate, screen, and vaccinate the at-risk Asian and Pacific Islander (API) population for Hepatitis B, a virus that can lead to liver cancer.

The project currently has a weekly clinic on Wednesday afternoons in Oakland staffed by the project's volunteers in which free screenings and vaccinations are provided. The Hep B Project is also involved in education through staffing tables at health fairs and giving presentations at community centers as well as forming community partnerships with existing health organizations. Students with an interest in public health, preventative medicine, patient interaction, community outreach, translation, health disparities, or community organizing are highly encouraged to consider joining.

Volunteers should be able to commit to the project for the entire semester which involves attending weekly meetings on Thursday, volunteering on weekends, calling patients regarding lab results, participating in community outreach events, and completing other tasks to help the project run smoothly (3-7 hours a week). No prior experience is needed. Transportation and volunteer training will be provided.
