Dear Undergraduate Researchers,
Lots and lots of deadlines are coming your way in January and February! Don't get caught unprepared! Come to a research workshop (or an information session) this month to find out what opportunities are out there, how to find them, how to find a faculty sponsor, and how to make your application competitive.

Below, please find:
1) Approaching deadlines -- details on those in December.
2) Workshops and information sessions for December
3) Opportunity to participate in a graduate student's survey on
undergraduate "research readiness"
4) A "sneak preview" of deadlines through mid-February

A little piece of advice: See a program that interests you? Read the web site carefully, attend any workshops/information sessions to find out more, and then try to contact those who run the program to find out how to make your application competitive. GRADUATE STUDENT SEEKS UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCHERS TO PARTICIPATE IN SURVEY

Hi, I am a first-year doctoral student in the Graduate School of Education at UC Berkeley. I am currently conducting research on "undergraduate research experiences", and this is an online
questionnaire for evaluating your current skills and interest in research activities. Your individual responses would be very helpful to me in determining the degree to which undergraduate students are prepared to do research, and what needs to be done in the research universities to promote undergraduate students' research experiences. In appreciation for your time, I have prepared $10 Starbucks online gift cards to the randomly selected participants.

The survey items are all multiple choices, and should not exceed 20 minutes to answer. Please choose one option that best describes your current skills and interest in doing research. Your responses will be kept confidential and used only for the purpose of this research. Please respond frankly and sincerely. Thank you very much for your cooperation!
