I. Peer Advisor Leadership Program (PAL) Applications Due May 14th!
The CNR Peer Advisor Leadership Program (PAL) is accepting applications through Friday, May 14, 2010. You may download an application here and learn more about the PAL program by visiting http://nature.berkeley.edu/site/pal.php. Applications can be dropped off at the Student Resource Center, 260 Mulford Hall, M-F 8:30 a.m. - 12noon, 1-4:30 p.m.

II. Hans Jenny Memorial Lecture: Filmmaker Deborah Koons Garcia
Special Presentation: Symphony of the Soil

For the Hans Jenny Memorial Lecture this year, filmmaker Deborah Koons Garcia will present a special screening of highlights from the multi-part film project, Symphony of the Soil. The film features soil scientists from the UC Berkeley community, including alumni and faculty of the College of Natural Resources. Symphony of the Soil is an artistic presentation of the origins, nature, and current scientific understanding of this precious resource that all life depends upon. Participants in the film include Dr. Ignacio Chapela, Dr. David Montgomery, Dr. Oliver Chadwick and Dr. John Reganold.

Deborah Koons Garcia has an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and has been making films for over 30 years. Her film The Future of Food (2004) premiered at Film Forum in New York City and has screened at theaters, film, food and farming festivals and community gatherings all over the world. Her production company, Lily Films, is based in Mill Valley.
