The Sponsored Projects for Undergraduate Research Program (SPUR) encourages faculty and undergraduate students in the College of Natural Resources to collaborate on research projects by providing a grant to support their joint project.

21 CNR faculty (EEP, ESPM, PMB, NST) will be soliciting undergraduates to join them on their research projects this fall. The projects are beginning to be posted on the SPUR website. Application deadline, 9/1.

SPUR info sessions will be held in 260 Mulford during the following times:
Mon, 8/30, 12:30-1:00
Tues, 8/31, 12:30-1:00

II. Honors research deadline
CNR students who have attained junior status, who have a 3.6 GPA and have two semesters remaining to complete a two semester honors research project are eligible to undertake CNR Honors Research. Students they must submit their H196 Enrollment form to major advisors by *Friday, 9/3, 5:00 PM* . Students must have their faculty research
mentor's signature, and a copy of their 300 word research proposal (title, abstract, background, objectives and hypothesis, methods, timeline).

A reminder, junior transfers must complete at least one semester at UCB and eligibility is only based up UCB GPA.

Some students are doing research with a research mentor outside CNR. They must get their research mentor's signature and also they must have a CNR faculty sponsor who will be responsible for their grade.

All honors students must be on campus for their two semesters of research (no EAP, no summer).

All honors student must present their research at the end of their second semester at the CNR Undergraduate Honors Symposium.

III. Transfer Student Mixer (Bring your lunch!)
Wednesday, September 1, 12-1:30pm, CNR Student Resource Center, 260 Mulford Hall
Take advantage of this opportunity to meet new and continuing transfer students in CNR, re-connect with classmates from CalSO, share your campus experiences and concerns, and speak to advisors.

IV. Transfer Students, “How to Find A Lab Research Position” Panel
Thursday, September 2, 5-6:30pm, 2063 VLSB
Advisors and current transfer students will be present to answer questions about finding a lab research position on campus. Questions answered include: What is research? How do I find a lab position? How can conducting research benefit me? Sponsored by the Biology Majors Consortium

V. Biology Majors Fair
Friday, September 10, 11am-2pm, VLSB Courtyard
Interested in the biological sciences but not sure which major is for you? Come and meet representatives from over 10 different biology majors and related student resource departments who will be available to answer your questions.
