VII. CalSO Counselor
The deadline for applications to become a Summer 2011 CalSO Counselor has been extended until this coming Monday, October 11 at noon. Downloadable applications and lots of info is available at http://nss.berkeley.edu/CR/cr.html.

One of CalSO's main goals is to hire students who, as a group, represent the full spectrum of the Berkeley experience, which is why it is so important to have a critical mass of CNR students as CalSO Counselors. As you may remember from your own CalSO, being able to receive advice and perspectives from other CalSO counselors in CNR makes a big difference in a smooth transition for incoming students.

So why should I be a CalSO counselor? You will gain valuable experience and skills in public speaking, group facilitation, counseling, problem solving, and public relations, which will make you a competitive candidate for any future career. You'll be able to reach out to new frosh and transfer students and their families to boost their confidence and help them take that first big step to Berkeley while performing a critical service for the University. You'll have opportunities to form long-lasting friendships with a diverse and close-knit group of students. And, you'll learn a lot about yourself.

We hope you’ll considering applying for this fun, fulfilling, and important position. Any questions, feel free to contact our office at (510) 642-4970 or askcalso@berkeley.edu. We hope to receive your application soon!

VIII. Free Tomatoes
We will be giving out free tomatoes to every student on Tuesday, 10/12 from 11-12:30pm. Stands will be located outside of Mulford Hall and near Sather Gate. To make this effort possible, we need 4-6 volunteers Monday, 10/11, from 3:30-6:00pm to help harvest tomatoes at the Gill Tract located on the corner of San Pablo and Marin. We also need 4 volunteers on Tuesday to help pass out the tomatoes. If you are interested in helping, please contact Renee at (510)-692-2877.
