I. Global Health: Breaking Borders and Boundaries

This one-day conference is the major gathering for hundreds of individuals from the Northern California region interested or actively engaged in improving global health. This event is cosponsored by UC Berkeley, UC San Francisco, Stanford University, Touro University, Samuel Merritt University, and the University of San Francisco.

II. Business Competition Plan
Calling all entrepreneurs! We’re excited to announce the official opening of the 2011 UC Berkeley Business Plan Competition, and the launch of our new website We’re now open for entrants! The website is a great resource for up-to-date information on the competition such as key dates, competition rules, and resources to assist you in writing your business plan. You can also search through the interests and expertise of others who are looking to join a team, or sign up and let others find you. When you're ready to submit your business plan, you can do so via the "Compete" section of the website or the “Apply” button in the top-right corner. Or you can just go here. The submission deadline for the Executive Summary round is Wednesday, January 26, 2011.

III. UC Berkeley: Big Ideas Competition
UC Berkeley's annual "Big Ideas" prize competition inspires innovative and high-impact student projects aimed at solving the world's most pressing problems in areas such as energy efficient technologies, green chemistry, campus biodiesel, safe water enterprise, and more. By seeking out novel proposals and then supporting efforts to help them succeed, Big Ideas has produced remarkable results. To learn more about the different competitions available, visit

IV. TGIF Grant
Need funding for your sustainability ideas? Apply for a TGIF Grant! Every year, TGIF awards students, faculty, and staff with ~$250,000 for their campus sustainability projects. Past projects include the Berkeley Student Food Collective, I Heart Tap Water, Water Metering and conservation, Bike to Work Day, Building Sustainability @ Cal, and Greening Kroeber Art Studies and Bathrooms.
