I. Commencement Tickets
We are looking forward to CNR’s Commencement Ceremony at 9:00a.m. on Sunday, May 15, at the Greek Theatre. Please carefully read the information below about ticket sales and other pertinent information regarding commencement. Graduating Students: Your four free commencement tickets will be available for pick-up during business hours (M-F 8:00 a.m.-12 noon, 1-5:00 p.m.) at 260 Mulford Hall starting Friday, April 15, 2011. Be sure to present identification in order to pick up your tickets. Be sure to read all the important information in your ticket envelope.

Deadline: The deadline to pick up your four free tickets is Tuesday, May 10, 2011. After this deadline, tickets will only be available for purchase at Zellerbach box office.

Extra Tickets: To purchase extra tickets at $5 each, please visit the Zellerbach box office. Tickets go on sale at noon. For more information, please visit http://tickets.berkeley.edu/. Tickets will be on sale through May 15, 2011. You may purchase as many extra tickets as you please.

If you cannot purchase extra tickets due to financial hardship, please email a statement explaining your situation to cnrteaching@berkeley.edu.

Honor Cords: Please check your unofficial transcript at http://bearfacts.berkeley.edu to see if you are graduating with distinction. For eligibility and GPA requirements, please visit http://nature.berkeley.edu/site/achievements.php for more information.

Honors Research Cords: Honors research cords will be awarded to students presenting their research at the Honors Symposium. For more information, please email Susan Kishi at kishi@berkeley.edu.

Please note: Graduates do NOT need a ticket so long as you are in your regalia when you arrive at the Greek Theatre at 8 a.m. on Sunday, May 15. Regalia can be purchased at the Cal Student Store: http://www.bkstr.com/Home/10001-10433-1


II. Undergraduate and Graduate Nominations from Faculty and Staff
Faculty and student affairs staff may nominate a CNR undergraduate or Graduate Student to be the student speaker for the CNR Commencement ceremony by sending a letter (no more than one page) stating why the student would make a good speaker and representative of our programs to:
cnrteaching@berkeley.edu (please put "COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER" in the subject line)
Deadline: Monday, April 18, 2011.

The CNR Commencement will be held at the Greek Theater on Sunday, May 15, 2011. Our Guest Speaker for the 2011 Commencement will be Amory Lovins from the Rocky Mountain Institute. The speaker was selected by the CNR Commencement Selection committee comprised of students, staff, and faculty. If you would like to be a part of the 2012 Selection committee please email kcj@berkeley.edu. This group will be meeting later in April to solidify next years speaker nominations.

Student Self-Nominations
All CNR students will be emailed an invitation to be considered for Student Commencement Speaker. To be eligible, students must be on the Spring 2011 degree list or be "walking" in the Spring 2011 ceremony and have an expected graduation date of Spring 2011, Summer 2011, or Fall 2011. Students who wish to be considered must submit:
1) a statement (no more than one page) explaining why they would like to be the speaker, and suggesting what they would like to address in their speech, and
3) resume or CV

Selection Process
The Office of Instruction & Student Affairs will send nominees a memo asking for additional information. The speakers will be chosen by a panel based on the nominee's ideas for the speech, academic record, student activities, and leadership.
