I. Register for CNR's Commencement Ceremony
The online registration link for the 2011 CNR Commencement Ceremony is now live. All undergraduate and graduate students participating in the 2011 Commencement Ceremony MUST REGISTER by April 1, 2011. Your name will appear in the program as you enter it online. To register, please visit http://nature.berkeley.edu/site/commencement_form.php.

Commencement will be held in the Hearst Greek Theater on Sunday, May 15 at 9:00am.

Tickets: Tickets will be on sale April 15 so look out for emails from your major advisors. Only students who register for commencement will get 4 free tickets. Details about purchasing more than 4 tickets will be coming soon.


II. Deadline to Change grading Option is Today!
The deadline to change your grading option, from a letter grade to P/NP, or from a P/NP to a letter grade, is today, 4/1/11. Please visit registrar.berkeley.edu for more information.


III. Apply to become a CNR Peer Advisor
Want to gain great leadership experience and learn more about campus resources? Want to outreach to others about CNR and connect students to leadership opportunities? Apply to become a CNR Peer Advisor (PAL). Applications are due April 15th at 5:00pm. For more information about the program, please visit http://nature.berkeley.edu/site/pal.php?switch=pals. IV. Undergraduate and Graduate Nominations from Faculty and Staff
Faculty and student affairs staff may nominate a CNR undergraduate or Graduate Student to be the student speaker for the CNR Commencement ceremony by sending a letter (no more than one page) stating why the student would make a good speaker and representative of our programs to: cnrteaching@berkeley.edu (please put "COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER" in the subject line)
Deadline: Friday, April 15, 2011.

The CNR Commencement will be held at the Greek Theater on Sunday, May 15, 2011. Our Guest Speaker for the 2011 Commencement will be Amory Lovins from the Rocky Mountain Institute. The speaker was selected by the CNR Commencement Selection committee comprised of students, staff, and faculty. If you would like to be a part of the 2012 Selection committee please email kcj@berkeley.edu. This group will be meeting later in April to solidify next years speaker nominations.

Student Self-Nominations
All CNR students will be emailed an invitation to be considered for Student Commencement Speaker. To be eligible, students must be on the Spring 2011 degree list or be "walking" in the Spring 2011 ceremony and have an expected graduation date of Spring 2011, Summer 2011, or Fall 2011. Students who wish to be considered must submit:
1) a statement (no more than one page) explaining why they would like to be the speaker, and suggesting what they would like to address in their speech, and
2) a letter of recommendation from a faculty or staff member (no more than one page)
3) resume or CV

Selection Process
The Office of Instruction & Student Affairs will send nominees a memo asking for additional information. The speakers will be chosen by a panel based on the nominee's ideas for the speech, academic record, student activities, and leadership.

V. CNR Poster Session
Have you done research through SPUR, URAP, BSP, Honors, summer program, independent study? Want to share your research with the CNR community? Get recognition for your research? Have the chance to discuss your project with others who share your interests? Enter to win a prize for best poster?

VI. Summer Spur is Now Open
CNR students may now apply to participate in summer SPUR Faculty projects. Projects are now posted on the SPUR website. Go to the SPUR site and Log In to the Student Site. Application deadline is April 10, 5:00 PM.

VII. Food and the Envrionment – How Food Choices Matter
Learn from CNR alumni about food and nutrition in the industry. Panelists include recent graduates, food safety specialist, agricultural operations specialist, organic farmers etc.
