Jan. 26 | Team up with BERC (Berkeley Energy & Resources Collaborative)
Interested in energy and resources? BERC (Berkeley Energy & Resources Collaborative) Undergrad educates undergraduates about energy and environmental issues, and provides networking opportunities through the interdisciplinary graduate divisions of BERC. We are currently looking for leadership team members to help run our events, outreach and communications, and mentorship program. Check out the attached application! Also, come to our first general meeting/graduate student panel, Thursday Jan. 26, 6:30-8 pm at 110 Boalt Hall to hear more details about how BERC Undergrad operates and how you can get involved. This will be followed by an opportunity to hear from graduate students with experience in energy topics, and ask them questions! If you have any questions, please email berc.undergrad@gmail.com or find us on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/bercundergrad.

Spring 2012 | Teach Kids About Energy and Water with SEED
SEED (BERC's K-12 education outreach) needs good teachers! We're recruiting new teachers/mentors for our 2 programs. Teaching is an awesome experience, the kids are great, and our updated water curriculum is AMAZING-it should be a lot of fun. You'll work with a small group of students, so you get a chance to make sure each student is involved and learning. No experience is necessary. There will be short training sessions before you start, and there will be experienced SEED teachers in your classroom to guide you.

SEED has 2 programs:
The elementary school program commitment is once weekly; your schedule needs to be open for a few hours in the late afternoon (usually around 3pm-6pm). We are currently committed to classrooms on Wednesday and either on Tuesday or Thursday, but may add a classroom on another day if there is sufficient interest. The high school program is every other week from 1:30-2;30 at BHS. It will be on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, depending on volunteer availability.

For both programs, you need to commit to attending all sessions for one semester to join. If you're interested, email seed@berc.berkeley.edu.

Spring 2012 | Volunteer with Tropical Adventures
Tropical Adventures has many opportunities available and would love to share them with a student keen on becoming a volunteer coordinator at the university. They have a great internship program and a brand new University Rep program and are offering an all-expenses-paid trip (including free airfare) to qualified person(s).

Their ongoing projects are specially designed to ensure people who have a limited amount of time to spare can make the most of their time in Costa Rica. Volunteers work together on a variety of projects in different areas of Costa Rica and take several tours and adventure activities during their free time. Volunteers can chose to work in some of Costa Rica's most spectacular national parks, carry out turtle monitoring and conservation, teach Art & Music, work with small children, work and live in an indigenous reservation and more.
