March 4 | Pre-IMSD Summer Undergrad Research Program

Application Deadline March 4, 2013

The Pre-IMSD (Initiative for Maximizing Student Development) Summer Research Program provides an first-time research experience in the labs of UC Berkeley faculty members for students who want to explore their interest in a research career in the biological sciences. The overall goal of the IMSD Program is to increase the number of students from groups traditionally underrepresented in the biomedical and behavioral sciences who go on to pursue and earn Ph.D.s in those fields. Projects this summer include the fields of molecular biology, developmental biology, behavioral endocrinology, ecology, evolution, and toxicology.

The program runs from May 28 – August 2, 2013 and includes:

· Paid research in selected faculty labs

· Seminars and workshops on research careers and professional development topics

· Students organizing and presenting their research at an end of summer symposium

· Mentoring and advising by IMSD staff, Scholars, faculty and Graduate Fellows.
