Thinking about designing & facilitating a class for next semester? Wondering how to start a student-facilitated course?

Attend a StartUp Workshop in the Student Learning Center!

We'll address procedural and pedagogical matters such as:

Requirements of starting a student-facilitated course
Finding a faculty sponsor
Completing the course proposal form
Writing a syllabus
Resources and funding available to you as a facilitator
Campus policies and guidelines
Reserving a room and obtaining CCNs for your course
Publicizing your course and managing enrollment
Making your class fun and engaging

Tuesday Oct. 22nd, 3pm - 4:30pm

Hey there Golden Bears!

Interested in toxicology and wondering what academic and career opportunities are available in Berkeley? Come out to Toxicology Student Association's 2nd General Meeting this upcoming Wednesday, October 23, from 7-9 pm in 220 Wheeler. Check out what resources ToxSA has to offer such as study resources, mentoring, socials, community service, networking with other toxicology undergraduates and professionals, research workshops (where you can hear about research experiences of other undergraduates and get advice on writing research proposals), lunches with faculty, film screenings and so much more!

Interested in going to grad school? Come hear from current biology graduate students, post-docs, and scientists about the application process, what to do to prepare as an undergrad, the life of a grad student, and careers after grad school. Ask grad students and scientists who have been in your shoes about joining a lab, doing research, and how a career in science can be both challenging and rewarding. Refreshments will be provided.

Oct 24 | The Life of a Scientist and how to Become One!

Have you ever wondered what is it like to be a scientist? What will your average day be like? What is the process of designing and analyzing an experiment? How do you finds ways to change our world? And finally, how can you use your undergraduate experience here at Cal to put yourself on the career path to be a scientist? Dr. Sorek, Professor of Plant and Microbial Biology here at Cal, is hosting an informational session this Thursday, October 24th, in room 115 of the Energy Bioscience Building (2151 Berkeley Way) at 6:30PM, to your answer your questions and more. If you want a career in science and you are ready to begin that journey, this is the place to start!

Throughout the week:
Cal Food Day Collage Stop by Sproul Plaza and draw your favorite fruit or vegetable to create a Food Day Collage to show Cal's love/support for healthy, sustainable food! You can also learn more about the Berkeley Student Food Collective (BSFC), Student Organic Garden Association (SOGA) and Student Dietetics Association (SDA) here!

11-2pm on Sproul Food Day Extravangaza 2013
The Berkeley Student Food Collective (BSFC) and The Local will be running a "(Students') Farmers' Market" and giving out FREE SAMPLES of sustainable food, along with other vendors invited by Cal Dining on Upper Sproul. Chat with these vendors for a chance to win a RAFFLE PRIZE! Stop by the tabling student groups, such as STeam, SOGA and SDA, to learn about their educational screenings and events throughout the week! See flier for even more food madness!
