That time of the semester..
So it's definitely that time of the semester when stresses run high because of midterms, club events, program deadlines, and never ending problem sets. But how to stay on top of it and not get bogged down by it all? One thing we always forget to do is just RELAX. We're all running around thinking about a million things at the same time, but taking a breather can be worth every second. With so many things going on at once, step back and organize your thoughts, prioritizing what needs to be handled first. It's good to make sure to get enough sleep during the week, and the occasional nap is always refreshing. Resting up can help you stay healthier, happier, and (rather importantly) awake in class.
As if just dealing with school wasn't enough, it's also that time to start (or continue) thinking about your summer plans. Should I take classes? Travel abroad? Apply for an internship? Get a job? Stay at home? Whatever you decide to do, keep track of your application deadlines and if you need recommendations from faculty, transcripts, etc. Putting extra time and effort into these applications can pay off big time, since they can lead you to continuing research, a potential job position, and a great overall learning experience. If anyone is like me, there are a lot of things I have been applying for since I really want to go to other places outside California to do research or take classes. When deciding what to do and where to go, try considering places you've never been or have always wanted to go. There are always lots of opportunities out of state and out of the country, so take a look at the brochures at the Student Resource Center in Mulford or talk to an advisor about possible programs. But don't procrastinate on this! Many deadlines are fast approaching in the first weeks of March! Hope everyone's having a good semester and is staying on top of things!
