Let the Fun Begin!
Welcome back everyone! Hope the new semester is treating you well :-) Luckily the weather in Berkeley is as nice as it gets all year long, just in time for school to start! The first few weeks are always difficult in terms of getting off waitlists and choosing which classes to keep in your schedule. I know for me, I always spend the first week juggling too many units with no time to spend outside and enjoy the weather. While the first couple weeks may be stressful in terms of waiting for enrollment positions to change, do not forget to have fun and enjoy getting back into the groove of Berkeley!
While all Berkeley classes always assign work during the first couple of weeks, due dates are often towards the end of September. Take this time to enjoy the outdoors and explore what Berkeley, Oakland and San Francisco have to offer!
A couple of activities to check out in and around Berkeley before you become buried in problem sets, readers, or lab write-ups:
1) EAT. Make sure to check out all the delicious places to consume delicious food in and around Berkeley. Top favorites: CREAM and Cheeseboard! Grab a friend and some good food and have a picnic outside!
2) San Francisco! Go check out San Francisco and ride the Cable Car! Ride the Powell Street Line to North Beach. Catch the Cable Car right outside the Powell Street Bart station.
3) Check out Tilden Park! Lots of fun hikes and places to have picnics. There are multiple buses both AC Transit and Berkeley sponsored so check the websites for schedules! If you want to get in touch with your inner child, ride the Merry-Go-Round or the Steam Trains!
