How do you promote a sustainability awareness campaign on a campus already plastered with posters and flyers for every cause under the sun, and that already considers itself environmentally friendly?

Use good old-fashioned propaganda.

Recent environmental economics and policy graduate Marshall Geck, an energy and water outreach intern with the campus Office of Sustainability, with his graphic-designer roommate Chad Kunert, devised this clever way to provide green tips to the Cal campus. The eye-catching posters, postcards, and other campaign materials are reminiscent of wartime patriotism campaigns. They have been turning heads — and helping to green the campus — since they began popping up early this year.
