  1. Have at least a cumulative 3.2 GPA for your college courses.

  2. Be interested in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and have completed or are currently enrolled in transfer courses that reflect this interest.

  3. Have positive recommendations from a faculty member, program coordinator, or counselor from your community college.

  4. Have financial need (fee wavier at your CC or meet the need based requirements for Federal Financial Aid at UC Berkeley).

  5. Come from an underrepresented university or college group.

  6. Be submitting your transfer application to a 4-year college during the Fall 2010 application timeframe for attendance of a university or college beginning in Fall 2011.

  7. Be a US Citizen or documented permanent resident.

  8. Be 18 years or older by Jan. 1, 2010.

  9. Be willing to commute to the UC Berkeley campus and fully participate in all 4 components of the ELP program (January – December 2010).

  10. 1.Spring 2010 semester - participate in a 3 unit Research Methods course on the UC Berkeley campus that meets once a week for three hours.

  11. 2.Summer 2010 Internship – participate in a 40 hour a week internship on the UC Berkeley Campus for 2 months.

  12. 3.Fall 2010 semester - participate in a 3 unit Environmental Science Education course that meets once a week on the UC Berkeley campus for three hours and requires a service learning component in a K-8 school in your local area for 15 hours.

  13. 4.Research – answer questions about your own experiences attending community college and transferring to a 4-year college/university, your participation in the ELP program now and in the future.
