BLACK ASH

A common tree of the swamps and stream borders of the region included between Newfoundland, Lake Winnipeg, and Deleware, Virginia, Ohio and Arkansas. Maximum size 3' x 100', average diameter 20". The wood is softer, easier to work and more durable than white ash, though not so tough. It is used largely for furniture and interior finish.
