COCOBOLO
From Central America
(Dalbergia retusa Hemsl.)
(Leguminosae)
As a fancy wood Cocobolo has been exported from Mexico and Central America many years. It comes in the form of logs roughly cleared of their sapwood. The wood is hard, heavy, and highly figured. Used principally for handles of knives, carpenter's tools, brush backs, small turnery. Several other species of Dalbergia also produce wood sold as Cocobolo.
