An important timber tree of Japan. Attains a height of 180 feet and diameter of 91/2 feet. Wood is compact, tough and strong. Prized in temples and shrines and palaces for its dignity and elegance. Used also for shipbuilding and bent wood ware and matches. Bark used for rope and roofing.
