Known to foresters and botanists as western white pine. The most valuable tree of Montana and Idaho. Very similar to the famous eastern white pine. Brings very high price as lumber. Although its range extends from Vancouver south to Southern California, and east to the Continental Divide in Montana, its production centers in Idaho and Montana. Maximum size 7' x 200', average 30"x150'. Wood is light, soft, straight-grained, easy to work and holds its shape well. Used for pattern, planing mill products, boxes etc. This board 1 7/8" x 241/2"x10', 46 board feet.
