An important deciduous oak, often forming a pure forest. Attains a height of 80 feet and diameter of 55 inches. Wood is strong, elastic and hard and is used in house and shipbuilding, wheels, joinery, beer and wine barrels and ties. Hilgard Hall is finished with this wood. Used extensively on our Pacific coast.
