A very hard and very heavy, durable wood. Abundant. It is used for general construction, bridges, shipbuilding, piles, posts, ties, spokes and felloes. Stronger, harder, and more durable than Mangachapuy. As a commercial name Yac'al also covers the genus Shorea.
