Where is fat found in foods?

Fat is usually found in many foods we eat. The main types of fat include saturated and unsaturated fats and cholesterol.

SATURATED FAT is found mainly in animal foods. It is the visible white fat seen in chickenduck, beef, fresh bacon, and ham hock. Coconut oil and coconut milk also contains saturated fat. Saturated fat tends to be solid at room temperature.
Eating too much of saturated fat has been linked with heart disease.

UNSATURATED FAT is also found in both animal and plant foods. Different from saturated fat, unsaturated fat tends to be liquid at room temperature.   Examples include oils such as olive, corn, peanut oils and fat from salmon and tuna. Unsaturated fats tend to be more protective against heart disease than saturated fats. Choose unsaturated fat when cooking. However, eating too much fat overall is not good for our health.
