CHOLESTEROL is another type of fat found in only animal foods. Cholesterol is important in cell membranes and is used to make vitamins in our body. However, too much cholesterol in the body leads to heart disease. Examples of foods with cholesterol include milk, egg yolk, beef, organ meats such as heart, liver, brain, shellfish such as lobster, shrimp, and crab. Foods high in fat can lead to weight gain. Being overweight or obese will increase your risk of breast cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.

Below are some ideas for reducing fat intake

1. Choose foods low in fat

Replace high fat foods w/ fruits, vegetables,
grains and legumes

Eat less high fat foods such as bacon, ham hock,
and Chinese sausage

Choose baked and broiled foods instead of fried
foods such as fried chicken, french fries and
hamburgers, deep-fried bananas, egg rolls

Select non-fat or low-fat milk, yogurt, or
cheeses

When eating processed food, fast food or dining
out, choose low-fat dishes
