Data

Coarse processing of specimens takes place at the Gump Station on the island of Moorea. As material is processed, it is taken with, or sent to, the participants' home institutions for more thorough studies. Specimens are tracked using a dual system, one for “collecting lots” or sets of specimens and one for individual specimens. For collecting lots, we take advantage of the fact that we have to capture the locality and collecting information anyway to generate the labels. Accordingly, as specimens are collected, each lot is issued an accession number based on a unique collecting event.
