Forestry Club Members have been planting redwoods in the Claremont Canyon area for almost the last 3 consecutive years. This year when we visited the site we were pleasantly surprised to see the high survival rate of seedlings that were planted last spring. The redwood seedling’s greatest challenge is surviving the hot arid summers. The Forestry Club went to great efforts in picking the most optimum location for each tree and their efforts appeared to pay off. While planting the trees many of the students enjoyed discussing what the hillside would look like in the future.
