Important information about the Venice sequences: 1. A number of accession numbers were changed by the Venice herbarium after our original phase of data collection. Therefore, in the fasta files, sequences may be named by their old accession numbers; this is an issue for the majority of sequences with accession numbers 1-1055. For accession numbers in this range, please consult the Museum Herbarium Catalog spreadsheet (linked from the project home page), column K (Habitat). Old accession numbers are denoted with "Ex N.", for example "Ex N. 148/M" or "Ex N. 1055". 2. Collection data for all sequences are available in the Museum Herbarium Catalog spreadsheet (linked from the project home page). 3. If you use any of these sequences in a scientific publication, please cite the following paper: Osmundson T.W., Robert V.A., Schoch C.L., Baker L.J., Smith A., Robich G., Mizzan L., Garbelotto M., 2013. Filling gaps in biodiversity knowledge for macrofungi: contributions and assessment of an herbarium collection DNA barcode sequencing project. In press, PLoS ONE. 4. Although we have taken numerous precautions to assure data quality, additional insight into the taxonomic identifications attached to these data is likely to arise from additional study. We therefore invite researchers to use these sequences in their analyses and provide feedback that would be useful for refining the taxonomic identifications attached to these data; communications should be directed to the corresponding author.
