Joanne's Page

Joanne Gaskell joined the Kremen Lab as a postdoctoral scholar in September 2012. She earned a Masters in Economics and a PhD in Environment and Resources at Stanford University, where she worked with the Center for Food Security and the Environment.   Joanne's field research in Indonesia focused on palm oil, an agricultural commodity that is causing dramatic landscape changes in the tropics. Her doctoral thesis modeled demand systems for palm oil - currently the most commonly used cooking oil in the world. In the Kremen Lab, Joanne's research focuses on understanding diverse oil palm production systems and linking ecosystem services with palm oil supply chains.
