About the Lab

The Moritz Lab is part of the Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management in the College of Natural Resources at the University of California, Berkeley.

Our research is focused on understanding the dynamics of fire regimes at relatively broad scales, and our outreach work involves applying this information to ecosystem management. Students and staff in the lab work and publish on a wide variety of projects related to fire, and are involved in both field and lab analyses, including the application of spatial approaches to understanding disturbances. Max Moritz has taught a variety of courses and currently co-leads fire seminars in our department. He is also involved with the Center for Fire Research and Outreach.

Feel free to contact us for more information or if you're interested in becoming part of the lab as a graduate student, visiting scholar, or postdoc.
