About

My name is Shufei Lei. I am married to Karen Lei. And we have a lovely little boy named Christopher T. Lei. Here is some general information about me.

One interesting fact about me is that I have never left Berkeley since I started my undergraduate study here in 1997. Currently, I am a Ph.D. student in the Consumer Information Lab in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy and Management. I received my Master’s degree from the School of Information in May 2006. Prior to the master program, I worked for the School of Social Welfare as a Programmer/Analyst for 3 years. Before that, I received my undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

With my training in technology, my next step forward is to apply my skills in the environmental field. I would like to research on how information technology can provide opportunities to effect positive environmental change. My research topic focuses on China, environment, and information technology (GIS, web, mobile). Of course, my research direction may change along the way, which is part of the beauty of graduate study.

Aside from school, I am currently an active staff member of an on-campus Christian Graduate student group called International Graduate Student Ministry. This group is consisted of graduate students from different disciplines of study and different ethnic backgrounds. I am also serving as a staff member at a multi-ethnic church in Berkeley, called Gracepoint – Berkeley.
