Rachel Barge, Former Chair, Mentoring and Outreach
BA Conservation & Resource Studies, '08A Social Entrepreneur, Rachel is a Partner at Greenstart, a startup accelerator for cleantech. We help the most promising cleantech startups achieve greater success, faster. The companies we select receive seed funding, three months of mentoring, valuable connections, and the chance to pitch to leading angel investors and venture capitalists at the end of the program; Rachel was the Executive Director at CleantechU, where she worked with campus leaders at the student, faculty and administrator level to create multi-disciplinary communities of cleantech entrepreneurship at leading U.S. universities; and she served as Director of The Business Council on Climate Change, a business organization of over 100 Bay Area companies working to share best practices on climate strategy and reduce emissions within their companies.
Their members are business leaders from companies as diverse as The Gap, Blue Shield of CA, Google, New Resource Bank, and TerraPass. BC3 members attend 30 BC3 events annually, participate in local and national policy dialogues, and report their successes and struggles in climate action.
