The Russell L. Rustici Chair in Rangeland Management
This fund supports the research, teaching, and outreach activities of faculty of the highest academic and professional caliber and in so doing bring distinction to rangeland research at the College of Natural Resources. It will advance the study of rangeland management by focusing on the productive use of rangelands. It is the donor's desire that the Chair's research help to promote the viability and sustainability of the domestic livestock industry.
The current chairholder is Professor Barbara Allen-Diaz of ESPM. Her research involves how rangeland ecosystems respond to herbivory, fire, and management. She focuses on how rangeland plant community distribution is related to:
- physical variables such as elevation, slope, aspect, soil type, and climate
- biological and management variables such as grazing and fire history, among others.
