Forestry, Microbial Biology, Plant Biology, Sudden Oak Death
The main interest of my research is the study of microorganisms, and in particular fungi, in forest systems. One emphasis of my research program has been to elucidate the effects of ecological modifications and my approach has been to employ population genetics and phylogenetic approaches to unravel the basic biology and the evolutionary history of important pathogenic or mycorrhizal fungi.
