  • Pierce's disease / Glassy-winged sharsphooter CDFA symposium coming up in December (RPPA, September 2007)

The annual Symposium on Pierce's Disease and the Glassy-Winged Sharpshooter will be held in San Diego, December 12-14, 2007. For a brochure and other information visit the CDFA website.

  • Sandy Purcell's retirement (RPPA, September 2007)

Sandy Purcell retired as a professor of the University of California, Berkeley in July 2006. This sort of is old news, but I figure should be mentioned here now that the website is being updated. Below are a few comments on Sandy's contribution to X. fastidiosa research, for those not familiar with his work. Sandy is also the person behind the original idea for this site and the one who maintained it for many years and is a major contributor right now as well. He is still active in X. fastidiosa research, visiting colleagues, contritbuting to the X. fastidiosa community and performing other academic activities.

The American Phytopathological Society Newsletter had a note of his retirement - available here.
The University of California, Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources also had a note of his retirement available here.

Here are comments from the PD/GWSS Research Board.
