I'm a 5th-year PhD student in the Environmental Science, Policy, and Management Department at UC Berkeley. My thesis advisor is Dr. Peng Gong.
My research explores the links between landscapes and disease, as well as methods for using remotely sensed data to parametrize disease models. More broadly, my academic interests include health geography, landscape ecology, mapping and interface design, long-term data sets and historical ecology, and environmental justice.
My thesis project focuses on the spatial and temporal dynamics of plague (Y. pestis) in California. I am building a GIS database to represent information gathered from both historical and current surveillance of rodent, flea, and carnivore populations, and am using satellite imagery to model links between landscape conditions and enzootic/epizootic plague dynamics.
