The final project
To solidify the concepts and methods that you have learned in this course, you will be required to carry out a final project. There’s nothing like learning by doing. Here are some possible things that you could do for your project:
Hand in a 3-10 page report (not incl figures) formatted like a journal article that provides intro/background for the issue, aims of your specific project, methods you used, and discussion or conclusion of the results. In addition to the written report, there will be a 15-minute oral presentation in front of the class to present your project. Final project presentations will take place on the last two days of class. Project reports are due a week after the last class.
The project proposal
Email me a couple paragraphs to briefly describe the project you’re planning. The goal here is that if I know more about your project in the beginning I am more likely to be able to help you. Things that you might talk about are what is the goal of your project and what sort of data you think you will use and where you expect to get it? Due October 17, 2006.
