about me

“We might say that the earth has a spirit of growth; that its flesh is the soil.”

- Leonardo da Vinci

My research focuses on the chemistry, physics and biology of soils.  I especially use of isotope geochemistry to better understand soil processes and to find ways  to use soils and biological materials for paleoclimate reconstruction. I am very interested in the interaction and feedbacks between biology and soils.  Finally, I am concerned with how we are changing the planet, and what this means for us.
