Research Interests
Environmental biogeochemistry. Physical geochemistry. Surface chemistry.
Investigations incorporate spectroscopic experiments and theoretical molecular modeling. Recent research has focused on molecular-level understanding on interactions of organic compounds and microbial extracellular polymers with natural particles. Current research project investigates structures and reactivities of biogenic nanoparticles (e.g., manganese oxides produced by bacteria) toward photoredox reactions and metal-scavenging.
