the Rausser College of Natural Resources at UC Berkeley!

Being admitted to Cal is a significant accomplishment and you should be very proud. During this exciting period of intellectual and personal growth, we are here to help you with your questions about majors, the College, the University, enrichment opportunities, and more.

We would love to meet you in person during Rausser College’s special events at Cal Day on Saturday, April 22, 2023. Our undergraduate advisors, current students, and faculty members will be available to answer your questions throughout the day.

Starting at 8:00AM in California Memorial Stadium, newly admitted students and families will be greeted by the Chancellor’s Morning Welcome and you will hear more about what to expect during Cal Day. The majority of Rausser College’s Cal Day events will take place on the Genetics and Plant Biology Lawn, located on the North-West side of campus. After the Chancellor’s Welcome and you have explored the Information Booths/Academic Hubs, please make your way to our side of campus for the New Student Reception.

Below, you will find more specifics about the events Rausser College has planned for you!

9:30 - 10:30 AM: Meet Your Advisor & New Student Reception (Genetics and Plant Biology Lawn)
All newly admitted Rausser College of Natural Resources students and their families are invited to attend a special Cal Day reception where you will have the chance to meet and interact with your academic advisor and Peer Advising Leaders (PALs). Light refreshments will be served.

10:00-11:00 AM: Dean’s Welcome & Student Experience Panel (Location TBD)
Dean David Ackerly, Associate Dean Kate O’Neill, and Assistant Dean Joshua Dullaghan look forward to welcoming you to Rausser College. Current students from Rausser College will also share their experiences about their time at UC Berkeley.  Seating is limited but there will be a second address at 1:00pm. 11:00AM - 1:00PM: Explore Our Student Organizations (Genetics and Plant Biology Lawn)
Part of the Rausser College of Natural Resources “small-college” experience is getting to know fellow students with common academic interests. Rausser College is home to a number of student groups whose members are working on environmental, social, and health issues. Meet and be inspired by student organizers invested in building a sense of community as they strive 

11:00AM - 1:00PM: Faculty Research Demonstration (Genetics and Plant Biology Lawn)
One of the many ways Rausser College undergraduates gain research experience is through Sponsored Projects for Undergraduate Research. Come explore exciting and innovative research opportunities that faculty and students have collaborated on through the SPUR program.

10:00 - 11:00 AM: Walking Tour of the Rausser College of Natural Resources (Tour will meet and depart from the walkway in front of Li Ka Shing and will circle the buildings on the Northwest side of campus.)
Join an exclusive walking tour of the Rausser College of Natural Resources. The Rausser College of Natural Resources is surrounded by historical buildings on the beautiful northwest side of campus. A second tour will take place at 1pm.

12:00PM - 1:00PM: RCNR Ice Cream Social (Genetics and Plant Biology Lawn)
Have you ever had an “It’s-It’s”, one of the Bay Area’s most beloved ice cream confections?  If not, you’re about to find out.  Non-dairy and vegan options will also be available.

12:30pm - 1:30pm - Afternoon New Student Reception and Meet & Greet Your Academic Advisor (Genetics and Plant Biology Lawn)

2:00PM - 3:00PM: Guided Campus Tree Tour (Meet outside at the north steps of Mulford Hall (facing Morgan Hall and the Genetics and Plant Biology Lawn)
Learn more about UC Berkeley's natural landscape with a tour of campus trees! The tour is led by forestry students. RSVP here
