The Titan Arum (Amorphophallus Titanium) is the largest unbranched inflorescence in the world, with the bloom reaching anywhere between 6-8 feet tall and 8-10 feet wide. The Titan Arum is indigenous and exclusive to the rainforests of Indonesia, and is labeled as vulnerable by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. It takes 7-10 years to grow to a point in which it begins to bloom, with blooms occurring very infrequently, averaging 2-3 years between each. During bloom, the plant raises its temperature to 98 degrees Fahrenheit and releases a smell comparable to rotting meat, granting it the endearing nickname of the "corpse flower". The Titan is a very unpredictable plant, and hopefully with continued research we can learn more about its unique characteristics!
