Prof. Stephens is a professor in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management, College of Natural Resources, UC Berkeley
Sierra Nevada Forests: Quantification of Forest Change since 1911 is a comparative assessment of natural environment conditions in the Stanislaus National Forest and the western part of Yosemite National Park. By comparing historical 1911 forest conditions data which includes diversity, density, and height of tree species to similar data collected on the same variables from 2004, 2005, and 2007, we are able to determine the changes in forest conditions between these two time periods. This comparison will provide information uses to evaluate and plan the way of management of forests in this area.
