Also known as Amaranth. Native to Guiana and Brazil. A large tree -- up to 125 feet high and 2-3 feet in diameter. A comparatively new wood to the American public. The wood is hard, heavy, strong and durable. Used in Brazil for spokes, furniture and even houseframing. In this country it has been used for billiard cue butts, archery bows, inlay, interior trim and cabinet making.
