Eight Rausser College faculty are named among the world’s most influential researchers, according to a new report from analytics firm Clarivate.
Published annually, Clarivate’s list of Highly Cited Researchers represents scientists who have demonstrated significant influence through the publication of multiple highly-cited papers during the last decade. Clarivate’s 2025 list recognizes 6,868 people at more than 1,300 institutions in 60 countries around the world, which includes 53 UC Berkeley researchers.
Researchers chosen for the 2025 list have authored studies that rank in the top 1% in the number of scholarly citations worldwide, according to the list’s methodology.
Active Rausser College faculty named to the list are:
- Professor Jill Banfield, Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management (ESPM)
- Associate Adjunct Professor Brandon Collins, ESPM
- Adjunct Professor Igor Grigoriev, Department of Plant and Microbial Biology (PMB)
- Associate Professor Trevor Keenan, ESPM
- Professor Sheng Luan, PMB
- Professor Krishna Niyogi, PMB
- Professor James Olzmann, Department of Nutritional Sciences & Toxicology
- Professor Scott Stephens, ESPM
Additionally, UC Berkeley faculty members Edward Miguel, an affiliate of the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, and Joshua Apte, an alum of the Energy and Resources Group. ESPM professors emeriti Dennis Baldocchi, Mary Firestone, and Claire Kremen were also named to the list.
