The Stone Center is excited to announce four small grants to graduate students in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management: Michelle Katuna, Dara Noonan, McKalee Steen, and Royale Williams!
Part of our mission at the Stone Center is to help train students in order to cultivate current and future generations of conservation leaders. We are thrilled to award these graduate students with funding for their research goals in the coming months.
Michelle, Dara, and Royale are receiving funds to support co-development of their research questions with community members. These students are studying eco-cultural revialization and keystone species in California. McKalee is receiving funds to support sharing her research, which analyzes where and how US Indigenous communities are reclaiming terriority, and the social and ecological impacts of those land aquisitions, with partners. As part of this effort, McKalee is presenting her work at the 2025 Native American Fish and Wildlife Conference in May. Each awardee will receive $2,500.
